In one paragraph
Samsar Block blocks unwanted calls using a list of phone numbers that its users report. We store
the reported numbers and nothing about the person who reported them. We do not know your phone
number, your name, or who calls you. We never read your contacts or your call history.

What we never collect
- Your phone number. The app never asks for it and there is no account to create.
- Your name, email, or any identifier you could be looked up by.
- Your contacts. The app does not request contacts permission.
- Your call history. The Android app does not request the call-log permission. iOS does not
allow any app to read it.
- The content of any call. No recording, no transcription, no answering on your behalf.
- Your location, or advertising identifiers.
What the app sees on your phone
Android. With your permission, Samsar Block acts as your call-screening app. Android passes it
the number of an incoming call only when that number is not in your contacts, and only while the
call is arriving. If the number is on your blocklist, the app tells Android to reject it. The number
is checked against a copy of the list stored on your phone; nothing about the call is sent to us
unless you choose to report that number.
iPhone. Apple does not let any app see live calls. The app hands iOS a list of numbers to block,
and iOS blocks them itself. The app never learns who called you.
What happens when you report a number
Two separate things:
1. On your phone: the number is added to your own list and blocked for you immediately. This
list never leaves your phone as a list, and you can undo it in the app at any time.
2. On our server: the number is recorded as one vote, with your device token and a
timestamp. It becomes blocked for everyone only when enough independent devices agree, when our
honeypot lines confirm it, or when we add it deliberately as a curator.
We store that a token reported a number. We do not store, and cannot work out, who that token is.
No names, ever
Samsar Block never stores or displays a name, a company, or a label for a number, and never states
that a number belongs to anyone. A block is a record that people did not want calls from a number —
it is not an accusation.
If a number of yours is blocked
Write to haithamabdallah@gmail.com with the number. We will check how it came to be blocked and, if
it should not be, we remove it — and can pin it so that it cannot be blocked again by votes. You can
also ask us to correct or erase data we hold about a number. This is your right of objection and
correction under Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 151 of 2020).
How long we keep things
- Individual reports are deleted after 400 days.
- A blocked number that stops being reported is retired after 180 days.
- Numbers nobody ever voted on are deleted.
- Your device token lives until you uninstall the app or ask us to delete it.
Who we share with
Nobody. We do not sell, rent, or share the blocklist or any other data with advertisers, data
brokers, or telecom operators. We disclose data only where Egyptian law requires it of us.
We use these processors to run the service: Cloudflare (site and API hosting) and Neon (PostgreSQL). The database is hosted in
Frankfurt, Germany (EU).
Security
Traffic runs over HTTPS. The database is not reachable from the internet. Access to the
administrative tools is restricted to named staff.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects nothing that would identify anyone, of any age.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears here with a new date, and we note it in the app.
